Mélanie Arcand

Mélanie Arcand est née à Montréal en 1973 et à grandit à Pond-Rouge, près de Québec. Dès l'âge de 11 ans, elle entreprend des cours de dessins et de peintures avec Gisèle Bouliane une artiste peintre réputée. Cette formation initiale lui permettra d'expérienter divers médiums, tels que l'huile, le pastel et le fusain. Elle poursuivera par le suite sa formation artistique en autodidacte tout en complétant une formation en infographie. Ses tableaux qu'elle texture avec diverses matières tels que des épices, des branches, de la ouate, s'inspirent de la nature.

En 1999, la carière de Mélanie prend un virage innatendu à la faveur d'un déménagement à Inverness. Serge Girard, alors propriétaire de la Fonderie, l'initie au métier de fondeur et, plus particulièrement, à l'art de la patine et Anne Renard, sculpteure, l'initie pour sa part à la sculpture. C'est le coup de foudre. Elle développe une oeuvre polymorphe, des arbres expressif et inspirés, à partir d'éclats de bronze, très populaire auprès des amateur d'Art.

Mélanie Arcand travaille à la fonderie d'art d'Inverness depuis 2000, spécialiste des moulages,des cires et tout particulièrement des patines qui font sa renommée. Cette expériences pratique constitue une formation précieuse pour la sculpteure tant par la maîtrise qu'elle acquière de ces importantes étapes de la production des oeuvres que par son contact avec les différents artiste sculpteurs.

Mélanie Arcand was born in Montreal in 1973 and grew up in Pond-Rouge, near Quebec. From the age of 11, she began drawing and painting lessons with Gisèle Bouliane, a renowned painter. This initial training will allow him to experiment with various mediums, such as oil, pastel and charcoal. She will then continue her artistic training as an autodidact while completing a training in computer graphics. Her paintings, which she textures with various materials such as spices, branches, wadding, are inspired by nature.

In 1999, Melanie's career took an unexpected turn with a move to Inverness. Serge Girard, then owner of the Foundry, introduced her to the trade of foundry and, more particularly, to the art of patina and Anne Renard, sculptor, introduced her to sculpture. It's love at first sight. She develops a polymorphous work, expressive and inspired trees, from shards of bronze, very popular with art lovers.

 Mélanie Arcand has worked at the Inverness art foundry since 2000, specializing in casts, waxes and especially the patinas for which she is renowned. This practical experience constitutes valuable training for the sculptor both through the mastery she acquires of these important stages in the production of the works and through her contact with the various sculptor artists.
